As planning consultants specialising in heritage matters we have considerable experience in achieving planning consents, many for historic sites, listed buildings and conservation areas.
The planning system has a responsibility to protect the historic environment, which is achieved through the Listed Building and Conservation Area legislation. National Planning guidance has significantly increased the obligation on applicants to justify proposed changes to ‘heritage assets’.
We work with landowners, developers and architects to create design solutions that enable development in these sensitive historic environments. We secure consents which turn otherwise redundant or under-used heritage liabilities into assets with viable futures.
Our Heritage & Planning Clients
We work with many who are not regularly involved with Heritage or Planning projects, and our clients can vary from the owner of a single historic building who has no previous contact with the Planning system to those in the private sector who look after or own multiple buildings in various uses.
Many of our clients are themselves professionals who work within the Planning and Heritage sector and are completing projects involving work to or impact upon the setting of heritage assets. These include architectural practices, who will often engage our services for supporting particular projects.
